I guess Zubin has eloquently put what has all to be said. Few quick thoughts
though.

- What we are/will see is a drop in the growth rates - which means there is
slowdown in growth but there will be growth nevertheless. A 5-6% growth
compared to last years ~9% still means that we have a growth rate of ~6%
over the last years which is still growth!

- However what we are seeing down is companies are trimming down on their
non-essential expenses - the flab as I would put it. They will also see
how/where they can get away with downsizing without affecting their profit
prospects.

- Thats not to tell that there will no more be recruitments - there always
will be -thats the only way a company can start infusing new blood and
energy into the organization.  But you will see that the maddening rush for
getting freshers will stop - companies are becoming much much more
selective. So as long as one is good, its a given the candidate need not
worry about getting a job.

- My suggestion would be to concentrate on your overall skillset:
  - Communication
  - Coding
  - CS fundamentals.
