I have a similar requirement and am currently using the jQuery UI slider.

However we need two handles, not one, since our use case is actually to have 
the user divide a range (0-10) into three parts. While jUI mostly does the 
necessary for us, one thing it doesn't allow is to specify the colors of the 
'bar' outside the handles separately so if anyone can recommend a different 
component that does have this option I'd appreciate hearing about it.
