sometimes the gaps can be caused by the spacing in your markup.  In the 
online demos the buttons are placed on separate lines in the source code 
but when you put them on the same line then no gap appears between the 
buttons.  Check out this example where I was able to reproduce your problem

If you adjust your mark up then you should see the space without the need 
for additional CSS
