Ironically, this is an instance of a locality in North America choosing between
permanent DST (UTC-7) or permanent DST + 1 (UTC-6), effectively a DST offset of

localities, has a longitude of -115.75, which corresponds to a UTC offset of
about -7.7. Makes me wonder if anyone is going to choose permanent DST + 2
eventually. I believe Yukon currently also has a DST+1 timezone and Alberta
just enacted a UTC+0.5 timezone.

Not sure where you see the latter UTC+0.5 offset for Alberta?
The new tz will be CST UTC-6:00, while Alberta's E border is @ 49N-60N 110W UTC-7:20, the SW corner is @ 49N 114W UTC-7:40 (about the longitude of most of the population centres), and the W border is @ ~54N-60N 120W UTC-8, UTC+1:20-2:00 offset - Double Summer Time. According to TimeAndDate.com, we will be able to play twilight golf all night May 26-Jul 18, but sunrise will be maximum ~09:40 early January, noon will be maximum ~13:50 mid-February, and sunset will be minimum ~17:30 early December.
