Ah, sorry I made a typo. Meant to say DST+0.5 for Alberta, judging off the main 
population centres. Most of the province lives in the Edmonton-Calgary corridor 
(roughly UTC-7.57 to UTC-7.6) and would be closer to 1h 30-40 minutes as you 
pointed out, whereas it's truly about a 1h 48 minute offset for Golden, and 
almost exactly 2 hours for Whitehorse.

Ignoring my typo, I think the point is that southeastern BC copying Alberta 
Time would be even more radical for them since they are even further west. 
Cities longitudinally east of Golden like Las Vegas are using PST/PDT, and 
Golden and Cranbrook would essentially be on CST. What’s only 30 to 40 minutes 
on top of DST for Alberta, turns into basically another hour for a lot of BC. 
But hey, what’s another 20 minutes of sunlight in the evening compared to 
Alberta gonna do?
