To the Time Zone Database, We are writing to share information about Alberta’s transition to permanent Daylight Saving Time<https://www.alberta.ca/albertas-new-time-system-abt>, also known as Alberta Time (ABT). Beginning November 1, 2026, Alberta will no longer switch between Daylight Saving Time and Mountain Standard Time. Instead, the province will remain on Alberta Time year-round (UTC-6:00), eliminating the need to change clocks twice a year.
We are recommending the use of the abbreviation 'ABT' as a convenient way to refer to Alberta Time. If you require additional information or wish to discuss this further, please feel free to reach out. Sincerely, Alberta Time Team Ministry of Service Alberta and Red Tape Reduction Government of Alberta [AB Logo blue CMYK - no tagline] Classification: Protected A
