Hi Sara,

Looking at the manual, I'd be suspicious of the hardware because

14. (EFAULT) Bad address. The system encountered a hardware fault in
trying to access the arguments of a system call.

I presume it is trying to read the CONTRACT file on line 15? I would
think after it has encountered this it may have marked the file
unreachable (I'm taking a punt here because I'm not sure of the
internals and how Universe checks or copes with this) and you have
entered an else clause. You may have a bad sector or similar. I'm not
sure how you would go about checking for that on your hardware as I am a
Sun/Tru64 type person.

Sara,

That error message looks like there is a:

                STOP 201,"CONTRACT"

        or

                STOP 201,FILE.NAME.VAR

at that point in the program, probably in the ELSE clause of an
OPEN
statement. Can you post the top 20 lines or so of source code for that
program? If it is a STOP statement generating the error text, the
string
being passed for display may not have anything to do with the real file
name
which the program is trying to OPEN.

e.g. OPEN "WORKORDERS" TO F.WKORD ELSE STOP 201,"CONTRACT"

is a perfectly valid statement for syntax, but EXTREMELY
misleading
at run time!!!
