Hi Stuart

I believe UK Agricultural Department is running a big site although probably
not high transaction throughput. There are a number of Credit Unions and
Banks that are running large sites and would have high transaction through
put.

I assume this is the Post Office processing accounts for rates, electricity,
etc, so this is mostly flow through transactions?

Issues to look at would be if the individual files will exceed 2Gig, if you
are using publish/subscribe that the buffer sizes will handle the volume and
what happens if the computer publishing to goes offline.

For this size of processing you might want to look at introducing Message
Queue processes that are now in UniVerse 10.1

David Jordan

Subject: [U2] [UV] Database size

Platform: Sun V1280, Solaris 9, UniVerse 10.0.8.

We currently have a file consisting of ten distributed files handling
250,000 transactions a day (approx. 60 million per year). Each part has 10
indexes.

Soon we shall be looking into increasing our transactions to 1,000,000 per
day (approx. 240 million per year).

Does anyone out there handle similar volumes or had experience with these
volumes on UniVerse? Disk space is not an issue and any guidelines would be
appreciated.

Thanks.
