I've been trying HS.ADMIN to enable ODBC access, but I get the following error:

Creating file "HS_FILE_ACCESS" as Type 30.
  mkdbfile: cannot create file HS_FILE_ACCESS

I've checked permissions and (unless I'm blind) they seem okay. Any thoughts? (I'm
wondering if the file type has something to do with it.)

Thanks,
LeRoi

PS The complete task is shown below:

UniVerse Server Administration

 1. List activated accounts
 2. Show UniVerse ODBC Config configuration for an account
 3. Activate access to files in an account
 4. Deactivate access to files in an account
 5. Run HS.SCRUB on a File/Table
 6. Update File Information Cache in an account

Which would you like? ( 1 - 6 ) ?3

LeRoi,

1. You need to enable ODBC for your account.
To do this, go into the HS.ADMIN account and use the menus to enable ODBC.
2. You then need to enable individual files.
The minimum you should do is to create an @SELECT phrase containing all of the
columns you wish to return. This will minimise some of the overheads, and filter
out the columns that you do not require.

NOTE : ODBC seems to work best when used with D and I Descriptor dictionaries.
You may get problems running with A and S types.

3. Once you have set up your file lists, use the HS.UPDATE.FILEINFO command.
This builds a cache of the column information for all files in the account: the
cache is used by the ODBC server to prevent having to scan every dictionay when
you connect. In other words, if you change any dictionaries, you must run the
   HS.UPDATE.FILEINFO again.

4. ODBC is very slow. OleDB is slightly quicker. If you need data in Access, it may be
quicker to export and import it, unless you need it real time.
