Progress report: It seems part of our trigger slowdown (hoedown?) is due to a problem we had back in June with the machine repeatedly hanging...
at the time we were advised that the hangs came about as a result of Universe not enjoying the company of AIX 5.1, and a 64 bit thang. - result? 64 bit thang switch to 32 bit now it turns out that it was AIX 5.1 that had the issue with 64bit, but this has supposedly been fixed (reworked) in AIX 5.2 the new answer from blue is that we need to go 64bit (since we're on 5.2) on a newly created JFS2 system, and that it's the contention between our 5.2 setup using common or garden vanilla jfs that is causing (some / all) the lag experienced in the trigger scenario... this is, however, a remarkably clever answer, as it will take us quite some time to do the whole conversion thang, thereby getting us off their back... (for a while) :-) -----Original Message----- From: John Reid [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, 08 September, 2004 6:01 PM To: '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' Subject: RE: [U2] Anyone have experience "mirroring" a HDD over a WAN I'm truly dismayed that this triggering business is giving me sorta fast results, when others have seen a significant slowdown. We constantly strive for productivity slowdowns, and what do we get but something that seems to work OK. <PRE> --------------------------------------------------------- GWK BEPERK/LIMITED (REG: 1997/022252/06) POSBUS 47 PO BOX 8730 DOUGLAS Direkteure/Directors: NB Jacobs, FJ Lawrence, J v/d S Botes, JH Coetzee, JGD Smit, JF Jacobs, AO M|ller, JW Smit, JP Snyman, JG Stander, JH van Dyk(MD/BD), JG Jacobs, A M|ller, M van Zyl, Sekr/Secr: E van Niekerk.
