Hmmm...well I wish I could remember exactly how we fixed it, but I have a feeling it's something to do w/ the effective permissions of the person you're logging in as (who I'm assuming is the owner of the schema files...that is, the person who created the schema?) Since the sticky bit can change the effective user id of the person who's executing a file/cmd, then I think it might be seeing you as someone other than the owner of the schema files, and not allowing you to connect.
