With gvim/vim use :se ff=unix to set File Format to Unix use :se ff=DOS to set to Windows/DOS format
:se ff
will show you the format vim has detected in the file from the crlf or lf only line terminations..
I use this routinely to move files from HP-UX based Universe to Windows.
