Try this and post the results please:

PTERM -DISPLAY

You might also try (to fix):

PTERM -KILL "^X" 

...or some other character other than X.

Is this supposed to be done at the colon prompt?  I just get syntax
errors.  I'm on UniData, if that matters.  (I suspect it does, and I
forgot to state that up front.)
