I also had this question and came up with my own answer.

Companies are merging (buying each other out etc) all over the place. If you 
merge two companies, one that uses Unidata and one that uses Universe I can see 
the desire to migrate one to the other in order to only use one for licensing 
consolidation, support, etc.

As a side question: why are companies migrating from UniData to UniVerse, or
from UniVerse to UniData?  

Obviously, there are enough who migrade from UV to UD since they already
have a tool for such.  Now it seems enough are migrating from UD to UV
because they too have a tool.  :-)
