Hey Joe,

I've found that ZoneAlarm Pro works much better than just the ZoneAlarm.
It's supposed to be for the professional that is using VPN, etc.

Otherwise, click on the Firewall tab, then select Main tab for that, then on
the internet zone security, slide that down to 'Medium - Visible but
protected mode:' and that might help. I can't use VPN at all unless I do
this.

I had been using ZoneAlarm Pro with no problems, and when it came time to
renew, I decided to save a couple of bucks and go with just plain old
ZoneAlarm. Much to my dismay, I discovered that it wasn't as good as Z-Pro
:(

And now I have another 1.5 years left on my current install before it
expires, however the workaround is a bit of a P.I.T.A. but it works.......

btw, I always go back to High security every time I'm done with my VPN
session, and before I surf any web sites.

hth,

Allen

Found the cause of problem.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

Brian - you got me on the right track with your suggestion in #4 below -
'Is DC
chewing up CP or fighting for resource with (library/socket/spyware scanner
issues?).

The cause of the problem was the firewall software - ZoneAlarm - that is
running
on the server and all client/workstations.

Shutdown ZoneAlarm and DC response is excellent.

So, now I wonder WHY - what is it about ZoneAlarm and/or other firewall
software
that might cause this degredation in performance of DC?
