Its called SQL MSDE (Desktop Edition). It has been available for several years for free. It doesn't come with the SQL Analyzer or Enterprise Manager so its a bit harder to manage than a purchased copy. U2 has been around and going strong while its been available, so I doubt a new release will have much of an effect.
