I just downloaded the Eclipse software and the U2Editor plug-in. Everything went pretty fair during the installation with a few variances from the installation instructions and the actual options presented. I'm having a problem, though, getting to the Universe programs. The problem seems to be at the point of registering an account. The notes say that the path is not required for Universe but when I try to navigate to the account, I get no listing of directories or hashed files. I can't find a way to change the account registration so I have to delete the whole server registration and start over to try something else. If I DO put in a path, I get directories and files listed but I also get an error message "The account name supplied is not a valid account" "Failed to establish connection to MYSERVER.NAME"
There are a number of other issues that lead me to believe this is not a "ready for release" version. It shows a LOT of promise, though. It may just be that the mirror site I used isn't up to the latest release, yet. The ABOUT screen says version 3.1.1, build M20050929-0840. Whether it was ED or the improved AE we have been pretty much stuck in the 70's and 80's. Others have produced a lot of full-screen editors, but they take a telnet license for every session. We have a solution for those who need to edit from multiple accounts, machines and databases simultaneously in one editor environment. U2Editor works on workstations such as Windows, Linux, Hp-UX, AIX, Solaris, and Mac OS X. U2Editor is built on open source development tool called Eclipse as a plug-in. By using the Eclipse platform for the open source community, U2Editor can be updated automatically or manually via the web using Eclipse Update. Those using U2Editor will always have the most up-to-date copy of the software. U2Editor is available today for downloading at www.u2logic.com.
