We move from D3 to Universe with some simple socket programs. This worked
very well and was fairly quick (full OE system in 12hrs). Because, it
allowed us to use multiple pipes we able to send a batches of small file
while the large file (customer, order detail, sales) were being load. The
databases were on the same system so the biggest factor for planning the
transfers was actually the disk IO.
I do not know if jBase's implementation of sockets is programmer friendly,
but, the Universe programs were pretty simple.
