I think it it means a Unix pipe file (fifo queue) that you create with the 
"mknod <pipename> p" command (on hp-ux) rather than anything to do with the | 
symbol.

Well, it's sort of fifo.... so long as your reader doesn't fall over!

I suppose smth like "OPENSEQ 'ls |' TO F.PIPE ELSE ....  (yes, this is a
