Yes Dave, ObjectCall was the API. I probably have the pdfs on a CD somewhere if you need to have a look.
ObjectCall went through a few technology iterations which were incompatible with each other in the early days, but I think by 4.1 UNIX or 3.6 Windows these were ironed out.
