No one suggested a usenet forum. I said in my other post that Google
Groups hosts e-mail lists AND gets usenet feeds which it then distributes
via e-mail. You can read in a browser OR get live e-mail like we do now OR
get digests. Mike Preece already created functional a U2 Google forum but
it's not appropriate at this time to make a jump. Membership to this forum
IS moderated, and postings can be, though for this group I wouldn't
recommend going that far.

So if this group did migrate to a Google Group, members should perceive no
difference other than getting and sending mail with a different address.
Again, I don't fully support it, but it is a very reasonable alternative.

In response to Chuck about taking this discussion off-line, I disagree. We
can discuss posts to the forum, exchange information, and play off of
various ideas - this can't be done off-list. As an alternative, I suggest
the moderators use another forum just to discuss this - perhaps another
temporary "Major Cool" list from u2ug.org? I will also offer to create a
temporary e-mail list hosted from my server for the purpose. Chuck is
familiar with it and knows it works. It will be ready by the weekend if
the mods approve, and discussion shifted there and away from this list. (I
can hear the sighs of relief already.)

General comment: I'm getting a lot of CC's and mail duplicates from this
forum because people are doing Reply ALL but not removing individual
addresses. Yes, you need to Reply ALL now, but don't actually reply to
ALL! :) Note this just highlights the problem we're trying to fix.

Finally, I just subscribed to another popular non-MV mailing list hosted
with brain dead software. As others have said, using Reply ALL or
substituting the actual list address (which I have to do for every post) is
the norm and mail often doesn't get posted to the list when you think it
is. Don't be a slave to stupid software. If it's Open Source, fix the
problem - that's the whole idea right? If it's not, get new software.

Up to something like 12 cents now?
