I'm not so sure of that. Even when I'm setting up users on UniVerse, I never use uvbackup. Two reasons: 1) It's terribly slow on large databases; 2) You don't get a snapshot as of a point in time. If the backup takes four hours, one file may be backed up at midnight, while another is backed up at 4:00. Would a restore of this database be usable? It's better than nothing, but not by much. Whether on UniVerse or UniData, I strongly prefer the pause-snapshot-resume-backup method outlined by several folks here.
