I agree -- I am a consultant who usually works with a VAR -- Originally I had hell to go through to get to who I need and get what I needed as an adjunct to the VAR. My setup of being an 'extension' of the VAR was a problem of 'None of the Boxes applies'. We worked through the issue - I finally became a dealer to avoid the problem.
However, on this topic, I suspect that even though lots of IBMers read this list, no one will take up this issue, so don't go blue screaming about it. There are lots of good reasons to make sure the VAR is in the loop (so that customers can't circumvent licensing) but usually those who are looking to Tech Support level documentation are already WAY beyond that skill level, so it is somewhat a 'silly' problem hiding that data. If I had a customer who wanted to self-research a topic - MORE POWER TO THEM! <g> And now, ESPECIALLY with the "PE" versions out there ... IBM now has a product that, even if downloaded, could not be self-supported without a 'link' to an existing VAR. If the goal was to bring Newbies in, it's not a very good way of doing it. My opine. Worth the binary bits that got it to you. David W. ------- u2-users mailing list [email protected] To unsubscribe please visit http://listserver.u2ug.org/
