The other points have made some very relevant comments about Phrases and
ASSOCiations.

I would like to add that of you want to get any performance at all out of
EDA then Phrases and ASSOCiations are mandatory. Each MV (or SV) set becomes
a separate DB2 table. Putting MVs in an (appropriate) phrase makes the MVs
columns in a single table associated with the PHrase.

If you forget to use the correct PHrases then you will have many more JOINS
on your SQL when UniData performs an EDA access to the normalised data. This
will cost you (very) dearly in performance.

Regards

JayJay

Subject: [U2] What Good Are Associations?

In a D-Descriptor... aside from a reference-info column in a data-dictionary
display to show fields that are correlated (like Ship.Date and Ship.Qty),
does anybody [or does U2] use dictionary field seven?
