Chuck, I'd look building a custom box with a dual-CPU Opteron mainboard, a 64-bit (PCI-X) disk controller doing RAID10, and the quickest 4GB you can find. You can run a single dual-core Opteron to start with and see how the load is. Two dual-cores may be a waste to start with. You will have major growth capabilities by just plopping another CPU in.
