Universe isn't multithreaded unfortunately. So I don't think it will
perform well in a cluster. Universe isn't aware of a cluster
filesystem
Such as pvfs, ocfs, gfs, or veritas clusterd filesystem. I've
deployed clustered databases, not for intuit eclipse, but as a
consultant and also
At my former employer. I've deployed a clusterd Database with Mysql 5.0
in an active/active configuration. Also Oracle RAC with OCFS.
I would really like to see Universe with that capability but it's years
of development away. I can only get some partial pseudo multithreading
with
Universe on AIX 5.3. It will be great to see universe evolve into a
multithreaded app. With IBM on the "Open Source" wagon they should
unleash
Universe. I'm sure what we would end up seeing is on of the databases
such as postgres, or mysql, with Universe plugin module to add universe
functionality with Pick pulled out. I'd like to see pick pulled out and
run outside the database. This way You can "scale" up the application
server.

Subject: [U2] UV: Running UniVerse on a Unix Cluster [not-secure]

Is anyone using Universe on a Unix (especially Solaris) cluster?

How does UniVerse behave in such an environment? Did you have to double
up on UV licenses?

I'm especially interested in anyone who might be clustering in a
"campus/metropolitan" type setup where the nodes are separated by
several kilometers.
