I've used HtmlDoc with great success but it's limited to an extended HTML
v3.2 and some v4.0. The v1.9 release which supports v4 and CSS has been in
OSS development for a few years, and will probably never get much further
with only one person really contributing.

Getting binaries for this software is a little tough - I compiled a Win32
binary from source and provide everything here:

In another thread here I just mentioned Print Wizard which has a built-in
HTML interpreter. So the HTML you generate in your MV BASIC for report
formatting can be used to render an attractive PDF, JPEG, or just to send
output to the printer.

The control you get over positioning of text and images is quite good
because this isn't pure HTML but HTML mixed with XML and labelled PWML. So
you can do a lot more with the code than just render output. You can
control document formatting, margins, page breaks, orientation, paper size,
lines per page, image overlays, and other details that HTML wasn't designed
to handle for a browser UI. For printing non-Latin alphabets and RTL text,
you can print using HTML escape codes or Unicode.

Once you generate the PDF (with or without encryption or a password) you
can also route to Email, FAX, FTP, publish to a website, or send to some
remote site via a Web Service.

I have to say the PDF implementation in Print Wizard does not support
absolutely all features, so please check with me if you require some
specific feature. For example, like HtmlDoc it does not support CSS. But
it can do things that other products cannot, like translate PCL to PDF,
which is great if your app already has hardcoded PCL. (Any CUBS sites out
there?)

Inquiries welcome, see this page for more info:
