Hi Jerry et al Just to state the official position with regard to the U2UG<grin>
The list pre-dates the U2 User Group: it has been through several stewards, most notably the distinguished Clif Oliver, with the U2UG being the current stewards (with huge thanks to Larry Hiscock). The U2UG uses the list as one vehicle for general announcements. We also use any other vehicles that seem suitable for reaching the community, depending on the particular messages. Messages specific to the user group are sent direct to those members who actually maintain their current addresses on the web site (I get bombarded with out of office replies, failure to deliver errors etc every time I do). But the U2UG do not own the lists, and act as stewards only with the consent of the list community. The fact that most of us on the list are also members of the U2UG (and vice versa) is beneficial all around, but the two communities are officially separate.
