I have been looking over this topic, and believe there are a few things
that should be mentioned.

First, capturing the XML to a hold file is not the way to get an XML file.


Note that if you put the TO clause on the end of the ECL/TCL query
statement in U2, the output will go to a file.

You could also use the XMLEXECUTE command to get the output in a variable,
from within you U2 Basic program.

This takes your query statement and put both the xml and the schema to
variables.

The XML is standard and will be recognized by other systems.  Note the
only issue you may have is if the XML must validate against an external
schema, then you will have to make sure that your data is correct.
