Not sure whether I should put [AD] around this since it is a direct answer
to this question ...

So read 'AD' if you want..

mvPDF is written specifically for U2 (and now QM and D3). It's a split
solution: the physical PDF generation is handled through a service written
in Delphi for reasons of speed, volume, accurate font metrics, encryption,
compression and digital signing. All of this is accessed in real time from a
set of UniBasic functions which provide a low level API for handling text,
fonts, images, barcodes, graphic drawing, pagination, converting HTML and
PCL and so forth, with layouts available using pixel, mm, inch or logical
character scaling.

Above this API are a series of higher level tools. There is a Windows based
page designer that allows you to create layouts for merging (Basic) or for
using as watermarks like pre-printed stationery. There is a dictionary
driven merge tool (RetrieVe/UniQuery style). Watermarks can also be used
with a spooler capture facility that renders existing print jobs directly to
PDF with no additional coding.

Because the final rendering takes place in Delphi the PDF generation is
fast, especially if you use watermarks, with a typical invoice complete with
layouts and graphics completing in fractions of a second.

It can also be used as a printing solution: all the calls will direct to
printer instead of PDF so you can have the benefits of Windows printing and
the tools provided.

End of AD
