Is there a reason you can't use the D type that points to field 30?

i.e. DCOUNT(FLD30,@VM)
(where FLD30 is whatever dictionary element points to the 30th attribute).

Another alternative is the FIELD() function.

i.e. DCOUNT(FIELD(@RECORD,@FM,30),@VM)
