what actually worked was...
DCOUNT(EXTRACT(@RECORD,30,0,0),@VM)
doesn't seem to work in an EVAL though
eg
LIST STK EVAL "DCOUNT(EXTRACT(@RECORD,30,0,0),@VM)" A30
