The startup of UniObjects Server the timeout is usually set to about an hour. That value can be changed to as long as you need. However, we have found that the connection is not persistant and will eventually time out.
Our U2WebLink middleware for Apache Tomcat has a connection manager that checks on the connections that UniObjects that have been made with Universe or Unidata. If they are not in use, then they are checked to make sure they are working. If the connections are not working the are removed by the connection manager and re-initiated. We use an open source job scheduler package called Quartz to do this. We have a call center and other high demand clients running this code. If you want to proceed and write your own code be prepared to spend 3 to 4 times what you think it will take. UniObject's connection manager is no easy task and not for the faint at heart. It takes quite a lot of code to make sure you handle all of the UniObjects error conditions and maintain that reliability you need. Or is it possible to have a trigger that would allow an event that could allow the state change to be seen and re-opened? _________________________________________________________________ Rediscover Hotmail.: Now available on your iPhone or BlackBerry http://windowslive.com/RediscoverHotmail?ocid=TXT_TAGLM_WL_HM_Rediscover_Mobi le2_042009 ------- u2-users mailing list [email protected] To unsubscribe please visit http://listserver.u2ug.org/
