Bill If you can't rename at the Windows level, it's either file permissions or the file is in use.
Set UniData to start manually in the control panel services applet and stop UniData - can you rename it? If not the reboot and try again. If you still can't rename it then it's Windows permissions or something has the file open. You can get some great tools from "sysinternals" that can help you spy out the culprit. If you were running WebDE (for example) then you may have a web application startup that opened the file - just because the web server is up (just speculating as an example). I've tried several tricks like this one but they failed too. Does anyone know why the permissions aren't working properly with this index file?
