Yes - we have to do this at least twice a day 

Do showud - one of the processes is the unirpcd process, do a kill -9 on
this process to kill it , then do startunirpcd

Way late I guess... But on uv you can do this by logging in as root...
Go into the UV home account and use the menu to restart rpc daemon.
