Sathya, There is a book called UNIX & Unidata by M. Taylor and S. Rees that has the best information I have been able to find on the basics of Unidata. It is for a UNIX environment, but I think it would be useful in a Windows environment too. There are probably other good books, but this is the best one I have found.
