Some 5 weeks ago I posted to the list to find out why we experience sudden hangs of our Universe.
I received some helpfull answers, but were not able to establish the exact cause.
Meanwhile we notified the company that is supposed to support Universe in South Africa.
We are still hanging and are rebooting about 4 times a week. The only fact we have established thoroughly during this process is that support for Universe does not exist any more in South Africa.
FOR THE SHORT TERM: Is there anybody out there whom we can contract to help us find this gremlin? Is it possible to find a problem like this without traveling to SA? Contact me privately with your terms and conditions if you think you can manage something like this.
FOR THE LONG TERM: We will have to think about migrating to another database (pity, because we have been using UV for 10years now, and were extremely happy) because we can not go on like this on an unsupported product.
Any ideas? (from Oracle to Interbase, VB anything not IBM)
