I agree. We run Symantec corporate edition on every workstation and server
and have not had any problems (other than conflicts with Microsoft exchange
which provided me with a great excuse to get rid of it and go with Imail).
Admittedly the initial setup was a bear, but once it was configured
correctly its been great.

Of course we dont let users access IRC either.  :)

You have to give me good reason not to run Antivirus on a server.  For
example, it causes the applications to hose up (which would suck but I know
happens).
Because I agree, there are too many opportunities for infection and a
multi-layered defense is better than a single-layered defense.
