the U2
Users Group is offering to assume the hosting and moderation

I want to thank the U2 Users Group for taking on this responsibility. I did not realize when I made my announcement last week that forums vs mailing lists would be such a controversial topic. By offering to host the lists on a list server, U2UG is carrying on a tradition that has been a part of our community for many years. This list has it origins in the info-prime and later info-vmark and info-unidata lists started by Mike O'Rear when he was at USC. Mike left USC in the summer of 1995 which is when I started hosting info-prime and info-vmark. The lists morphed into info-ardent, then info-informix, and then u2-users. Almost nine years later, I am pleased that U2UG will carry on the work.

On 1 May 2004, I will send U2UG a copy of the subscriber lists for u2-users and u2-community. Anybody not wanting to be on the lists after they move may unsubscribe here before that date. I hope those will be few. About two weeks before the move, I will start posting daily notices so no one is caught off guard.

Again, I want to thank the Establishing Board of the U2 Users Group for committing to the Freedom principles of these lists and for offering to take over the hosting and moderation/monitoring of them.
