The KDD Cup is a yearly competition in data mining open to everyone.
KDD Cup 2000 will be the Fourth International Knowledge Discovery and
Data Mining Tools Competition, held in conjunction with KDD-2000 The
Sixth International Conference on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining.
This year's domain contains actual clickstream and purchase data from
Gazelle.com, a legwear and legcare web retailer. You are required to
sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) in order to receive a password
to access the data. The top winners will be expected to give a short
talk at KDD 2000.
To simulate a real environment (and to make the organizers' life
manageable), we restricted questions to two question periods. The
second period starts this Monday, 7/10/2000. Final submissions are
due 7/17. During these question periods, you may ask technical
questions or business questions, similar to a real-life interaction
with a real client. Business users help answer the questions and
judge the final results.
Note that the data may be used for research purposes after the
competition provided that you get approval as specified in the NDA.
About a day after you fax the non-disclosure agreement and send us an
e-mail as specified on the web page, you will get the username and
password to access the data.
