Ah, yes, the good old pocket-sized jukeboxes :)
Latest version almost said "iPod", but I wimped out and the last line ended up: “Plug in an MP3 player to start synchronizing your music collection, or insert a CD to copy songs to your computer.” (That particular text is by Matt Griffin, who made it sound much better than I did... although I somehow missed that it changed back to MP3 Player from Portable Music Player. Oh well, strings are rigid now. On the list for Maniacal Mongoose). As I went about updating the content, Various reasons came to mind for avoiding the brand mention: As mentioned, Apple has the upper hand there in that they can just say "your iPod" and assume nobody owns anything else. We can't do that ;) This is a long-term release, iPods are notoriously difficult to support. We really can't expect ANY iPods to work by Lucid's end of life. (Although hopefully the necessary libraries will see some backports; I'm not a _complete_ pessimist). As I understand it, we would need to add a trademark notice, and I for one hate those things. -- Slideshow doesn't mention ipod support https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/538425 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubiquity Slideshow, which is subscribed to ubiquity-slideshow-ubuntu in ubuntu. Status in “ubiquity-slideshow-ubuntu” package in Ubuntu: In Progress Bug description: Binary package hint: ubiquity In the slide titled "Music and movies in Ubuntu" it reads: "Plug in an MP3 player to start synchronizing your music collection, or insert a CD to copy its music to your computer." The iPod brand is a household name and I believe it would be worth mentioning in the slideshow. Also, http://google.com/trends?q=mp3+player,+mp3,+ipod suggests that many more people are familiar with 'iPod' rather than 'MP3 player'. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubiquity-slideshow Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubiquity-slideshow More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
