I found rain attenuation the table in the AF24 user guide to be pretty 
close to my observations.  My longest link is 3.7 miles, and it drops 
out during really heavy precipitation (couple times a year).  I have a 
5ghz link running along side it, and is connected to ports on my 
switches with higher spanning tree cost.  It's simple and it works fine 
as long as spanning tree learning is fast enough failover time for the 
customers on your link.
