We are using a MikroTik ccr1009 on each end and bonding two interfaces. Using active backup for the mode, arp for link monitoring and layer 2 for transmit has policy. Fails over instantly; might lose one ping.

The question is the use of STP as a mechanism to switch between the main and backup links. The switches at each end are Netonix.
