I can say that I have at least 40 AF5x in the field. I have never had a single bad Ethernet connection at the radio. We use the UBNT Tough Connectors and Shireen cable. We used to have this issue all the time due to a crimper that was OVER crimping the connectors. It was actually mashing the pins too far into the connector and mashing the clip on the back. Client radios would fail to have a Ethernet connection but the radio was connected. We went to the: Ideal 33-396 Data/Voice Crimp Tool
Remember you don’t have to mass the ends to make the crimp better. I've been using this method for years. ________________________________ From: "James Wilson" <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>> To: "Ubiquiti Users Group" <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>> Sent: Wednesday, March 8, 2017 6:34:42 PM Subject: Re: [Ubnt_users] Damn AF5X ports My question exactly, how do they make positive contact with the drain wire... They have a spring-loaded clip, and high quality offset gold crimps. We stopped having issues when I switched to these. By hand I can't make the link drop, so I'm sure these 40 mph winds won't be able to now. I was hoping there was a long term fix rather than "use more zip ties and use grease" like a better ethernet jack that doesn't have this problem (like what's found in WBMFG cards, Rockets, Epmp, etc).
