The spec for this (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Artwork/Specs/ ChangeMouseCursors) says "J Lo loves her mouse pointers, but ubuntu has not improved on existing commercial mouse pointers. She hopes the next release will."

I still don't see this as a valid argument. What is there to improve on existing mouse pointer designs? They've been like this for more than 20 years. Maybe someone will sketch up something good, but for now I still think that this is just an excuse to get "something fancy" as cursor design (but of course, this is rebuttable). Although I do agree that there need to be larger versions for those with visual impairment (aren't there already?)
