After adding the font (coping it in the font folder) its automatically
loaded in the X memory. But running applications don't know that as the have
the older font list, so you'll have to close the application and the start
it again. then the application will be able to use the new font as it will
take the new font list.

You certainly need not to restart the PC, Thats absurd. you can
1. Logout and then login again,
2. Restart the X using Ctrl+Alt+BackSpace (save your works)
3. Close all applicationsthen start them again
