*About the Browser:* Well... Ubuntu comes with the renowned browser Mozilla Firefox. So I am hoping that you are using FireFox (as you mentioned Browser of ubuntu). First of all check whether the browser is in offline. For this in Firefox, go to *File* menu. Most probably you'll find a tick mark beside the *Work Offline* option.
