Steps to reproduce on my DELL XPS M1330 laptop:
- Put the laptop is suspend mode
IF the suspend fails (which happens) from time to time THEN
- Press power button during 5 sec to switch the laptop off (no other
possibility)
- Unplug your power cable so that your laptop uses battery power
- Turn the laptop on and wait for Ubuntu to boot

RESULT:
- Filesystem is read-only
- X server won't launch and you get an error message

SOLUTION:
- Plug the power cable in and reboot

NOTE:
- I don't know if it matters but my / and /home partitions are using JFS and my
/boot is using ext3

** Summary changed:

- Xorg fails to execute on Laptop when using battery
+ Xorg fails to start after suspend failure, when using battery power
