So the kernel shouldn't lock the drive, or unlock it and wait for the user to reinsert it after cleaning. It happened to me numerous times before, with data cds, music cd and even dvds. Cleaning the drive's "laser eye" prevent errors when reading/writing. Retrying with the same dust balls in the drive won't help. IMHO Ubiquity should even _suggest_ cleaning the drive, and then retry.
