** Description changed: I am encountering a very strange problem when I try to install 8.10 from the liveCD, and I have even tried to do update-manager -d; both of which produced the same error. It seems like the mouse cursor gets stuck on the middle of the screen. Sometimes it will let me move it, other times it acts like it is attached to the middle of the screen by a rubber band... bouncing back as soon as I try to move it. Most of the time, I can only move the pointer by a few inches before it returns to the stuck point. As for the steps I took to produce it... It started doing this - instantly, as soon as the login screen appeared, on both the LiveCD and - on the updated 8.04 system. I am going to try to do a screen capture - video for you, since I am having a hard time explaining it. + instantly, as soon as the live cd would log the ubuntu user in. it + almost never does it the first time the login screen appears, from the + livecd. + + Sometimes it is only a minor issue, letting me move the mouse for 5mins + before resetting to the stuck position. Sometimes, it stays stuck. I + have also noticed when it is stuck and will not let me move it, the + cursor looks like it is vibrating back and forth, very quick.
